Broadway Plaza is giving back to the Assistance League of Diablo Valley this holiday season.
Assistance League Diablo Valley is a nonprofit, member volunteer organization dedicated to improving lives in our community through hands-on programs.
Assistance League, which is headquartered in Walnut Creek, celebrates over 58 years in Contra Costa County with 450 member/volunteers. Its philanthropic programs are supported by the primary fundraiser, Assistance League Thrift Shop in Lafayette plus grants and donations from generous donors.
Operation School Bell® programs:
- Clothing - Provides new clothes for 3,500 elementary and homeless students every year
- Listen - Provides reading support to second graders and donates books
- R.E.A.D. Reads monthly to elementary students and donates books
- Preschool R.E.A.D. Reads weekly to Preschool students and donates books
- The Kids On The Block – Performs educational puppet shows for students
- Sunshine Boxes – Donates weekend food for hungry students and families
- Scholarships - Last year alone provided $267,000 to 69 young adults
Community Needs Programs are:
- Food Boxes – Provides food for families
- Assault Survivor Kits® - Eases the distress of victims
- TeleCare Makes reassurance phone calls to homebound clients
- Baby Bags – Contributes help for mothers and fathers of at-risk infants
- Receiving Center Backpacks – Gives comfort to kids entering foster care
- Senior Year Sponsorships – Provides financial help for high school foster youth's senior year activities
- On My Way Kits – Donates items for foster youth first home setup
- Outreach – Provides assistance for one time emergency help requests
- Assisteens® Auxiliary- The chapter’s teenage auxiliary, hosts holiday parties for seniors and disadvantaged children and supports chapter activities
