August 18, 2016
WALNUT CREEK, Calif., August 18, 2016 – Broadway Plaza, part of the Macerich (NYSE:MAC) portfolio of one-of-a-kind retail properties in top markets, invites residents of Walnut Creek and the East Bay to celebrate the property’s major renovation at “Party in the Plaza,” a center wide event on Thursday, September 1, from 4 pm – 9:30 pm, with many activities, including a free concert with  Pop Rocks featuring Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray.

“Party in the Plaza” celebrates the major renovation at Broadway Plaza that includes more than 50 new retailers, new parking, new finishes and refreshed outdoor amenities. In addition to an appearance from Pop Rocks featuring Mark McGrath, festivities will include a variety of musical and walk around entertainment, food trucks, a kid’s zone, and other specialty booths and activities from the event’s title sponsor, NYX Professional Makeup, and co-sponsors, Boudin, Diablo magazine, Gap, iHeart and the Walnut Creek Downtown. The event will wrap up with a spectacular fireworks finale.

“For 65 years, Broadway Plaza has been the favorite shopping and dining destination for our own community and the East Bay region,” said Shelly Dress, Senior Property Manager, Broadway Plaza. “For the past two and a half years, the community has stood beside us as we renovated and perfected this iconic property. We think everyone will be pleased to see so many new retailers and the beautiful new environment at Broadway Plaza. We can’t wait to celebrate with everyone on September 1.”

More Ways to Celebrate

Leading up to the “Party in the Plaza”, local residents are invited to attend Broadway Plaza’s annual Summer Concert series. This fun, family-friendly tradition brings together great music, good company and fabulous retail. The series runs four consecutive Thursdays in August from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The remaining concert line-up includes: August 18 – Mustache Harbor and August 25 – Tainted Love.

Broadway Plaza shoppers are also invited to experience a special “Night of Thanks,” as the Plaza shows its appreciation to the community for its
support during the renovation with a not-to-miss event featuring fashion shows, in-store events and much more. This event is set for Friday, September 9, from 6 pm to 9 pm. More information can be found at www.broadwayplaza.com/events.
