Broadway Plaza is redefining 230,000 square feet of retail space, adding opportunity for retailers to bring their best concepts to this lively downtown property, anchored by Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Macy’s.
Enhanced pedestrian spaces, expanded parking, and better traffic access enhance the charm – and customer convenience – for the iconic center.
Broadway Plaza is currently making some changes to the 64-year-old shopping center that will bring the addition of new retail, expanded parking, enhanced pedestrian spaces, and better traffic access. Broadway Plaza is an important resource for the Walnut Creek community, which is why we are investing to enhance its appeal for local residents, visitors, shoppers and retailers over many years to come.
With traffic always a high concern for Walnut Creek residents, improving access and parking is top of the list in terms of priority. And enhanced pedestrian areas will also contribute to something in high-demand: maintaining the charm and appeal of Broadway Plaza.
The convenience and experience of our guests is our highest priority during these upgrades. Stores are open, including the addition of 14 new stores, and plenty of parking is available.
The Reveal of this amazing project has now begun, with the opening of new retail, added parking and a newly renovated Macy's. The celebration will continue in Summer 2016, with a Grand Opening scheduled to celebrate more new retail, the completion of the South Broadway Parking Garage, the introduction of the new Event Plaza and much more!

Demolition Begins - March 2014
What work is Broadway Plaza doing?
Construction began in March 2014 and will soon be followed by new retail and center upgrades opening in phases, which began in Fall 2015 and will run through 2017.
Phase 1 of the project includes demolishing and rebuilding the parking garages on South Broadway, the expansion of the Macy's for Women store, the remodel on the East side of the property between Macy’s and Nordstrom, and improvements to traffic flow and pedestrian areas, along with upgraded facades as well as new landscaping.
Phase 2 includes construction of two new buildings on the West side of Broadway Plaza, which will be in place of the former Macy's for Men’s location.
How will I park and travel around Broadway Plaza during these changes?
All Broadway Plaza parking garages are open. These garages include the Nordstrom and Macy's parking garages on South Broadway and the Main Street Parking Garage. Valet is available daily for $8 on both Broadway Plaza Street and in the new Macy's Parking Garage.
What events and services can I expect from Broadway Plaza during this time?
Gift cards are sold in the Broadway Plaza Management Office, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Broadway Plaza also has a fast, fun and effective text-based concierge service which allows shoppers to ask nearly any question about the shopping center and beyond. Broadway Plaza launched the latest customer experience innovation last year. For questions and inquiries, shoppers can text (925) 948-8826.

What's Happening In Summer 2016?
In June 2016, the second phase of retail along Broadway Lane will open, along with the completion of the South Broadway Parking Garage, bringing a total of 2,500 parking spaces in the new structure. Also coming next Summer will be a new Event Plaza, Water Features, Public Art and a Full-Service Valet.
What's Happening in 2017?
The final phase of retail will be opening in the former Macy’s
For Men’s Building, as well as a new driveway connector to improve traffic access. At the end of this project, 230,000 square feet of new retail and restaurants will be open, which is approximately 60 new stores!
